Overview
Neuralink is hiring a Software Engineer Intern on the Brain Interfaces Software Team in South San Francisco — building the end-to-end software stack that manages implant communication, verification, manufacturing, and monitoring for devices that enable bi-directional brain interfaces.
You'll work on client-side SDKs and full-stack platforms used across the company: Implant and Charger SDKs, firmware build tooling, manufacturing line acceptance software, design control verification testing, implant recorder systems, and implant monitoring systems — in a meritocratic, mission-driven environment where exceptional engineers take on real responsibility.
Key Requirements & Critical Rules
- Languages: Fluent in Python and C or Rust — exceptional software engineering ability matters above all.
- Systems: Comfortable with Linux/Unix systems and command line.
- Ability bar: Evidence of exceptional ability in engineering, mathematics, or computer science.
- First principles: Strong understanding of engineering first principles.
- Production mindset: Strong intuition for what matters in a production system vs. research-grade code.
- Work scope: Implant/Charger SDK, firmware build tooling, manufacturing acceptance software, design control verification testing, recorder and monitoring systems.
- Preferred: Prior experience developing software for safety-critical systems.
